Carolina Beach Fishing Report: Grouper Bite Is On Fire

July 20, 2026

Fishing has stayed strong this past week around Carolina Beach, especially for anglers targeting bottom fish.

Nearshore Reef Fishing

The nearshore reefs continue to produce consistent action. Flounder and grey trout have been showing up regularly, with plenty of sharks mixed in to keep things interesting. It’s been a great option for anyone looking to stay closer to the beach while still catching a variety of fish.

Offshore Bottom Fishing

The offshore grouper bite has honestly been about as good as we’ve seen this season.

We’ve been catching:

  • Gag Grouper
  • Scamp Grouper
  • Red Grouper
  • Triggerfish
  • Vermilion Snapper (Beeliners)
  • White Grunts
  • Other quality bottom fish

We’ve also caught quite a few red snapper, but they’re all being released.

If you’re thinking about making an offshore trip, now is a great time. The grouper bite has been incredibly consistent, and the fish boxes have been filling up.

Overall, it’s been one of the better stretches of offshore bottom fishing we’ve had this year.
