It was a long, cold, depressing winter! Summer is finally here!

Fishing is starting to get pretty hot, the weather is getting warm, and the seawater temperature is rising! All of this means that fishing is good!

Inshore, the flounder are finally moving into the inshore wrecks and reefs within 5 miles of the beach. Typically, I fish with live bait for these fish, and usually come up with great catches! Additionally, the large red drum are moving in too! Earlier in the year, the gray trout were pretty thick, but over the last two weeks, I haven’t seen too many. Black sea bass are very thick. We’ve been catching nice 2-3 lbers, but the bad part is regulations prohibit us from keeping any until June 1st.

Offshore, the grouper bite has been great. Capt. Caleb and Doug have remained consistent in limiting out with gag, red, and scamp groupers. The catch always entails a mixed bag of gray snappers, porgys, mahi, king mackeral, and sharks.

As the summer progresses we’ll be seeing the Mahi Mahi move closer to the beach, as well as the king mackeral, and sailfish. This means that no matter what trip you chose, whether offshore or inshore, the chances for catching an awesome fish increase!!!! Call to reserve a date for live bait king mackeral, sailfish, and also mahi mahi trips with Capt. John or Capt. Caleb!

As always, thanks for reading this fishing report, thanks for your support, and have an awesome day! Capt. John 910-367-0653
